Group Swimming Lessons
Courses Offered:
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
For children 3 years and up who have little or no previous water experience or for children who are not yet getting their faces wet.
9:00am - 9:40am
Level 2: Fundamental Water Skills
For children 3 years old and up who are secure with fundamental skills and are comfortable getting their faces wet and going underwater.
10:45am - 11:30am
During the first session, children will be assessed for the appropriate class.
Dates:
Six group swim lessons will be held on June 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, and 24.
If the pool is closed due to inclement weather, the make up lesson will be on the Friday of the same week, i.e. June 18 or 25.
Instructor(s):
Lead instructor is Sarah Otvos Johnson, Killer Whales Pre-Swim Team Coach.
Additional instructors will be announced.
Enrollment:
Limited to 10 participants and is on a first come basis.
Minimum enrollment is 4 participants with preferred ratio of 1 instructor: 5 participants.

Courses Descriptions:
Level 1:
Introduction to Water Skills For children 3 years and up who have little or no previous water experience or for children who are not yet getting their faces wet. Level 1 participants will learn to: Enter and exit the water safely Submerge mouth, nose, and eyes Exhale underwater through mouth and nose (blow bubbles) Open eyes underwater and pick up submerged item on bottom Begin prone and back float Roll over front to back and back to front Begin swimming on front and back using arms and legs with support. Jump off side of pool. Participants will earn a certificate of completion.

Level 2:
Fundamental Water Skills For children 3 years old and up who are secure with fundamental skills and are comfortable getting their faces wet and going underwater. Level 2 participants will learn to: Exit water safely using ladder or side Blow bubbles while submerging head (bobbing) Open eyes underwater and pick up submerged item in shallow water Prone and back float Prone and back float with glide Change direction of travel on front or back Tread water Begin swimming using crawl and elementary back stroke. Participants will earn a certificate of completion.
